Registration Information
Breed Standards:
Good quality Thoroughbreds have a well-chiseled (not dished) head on a long neck, high withers, a deep chest, a short back, good depth of hindquarters, a lean sleek body, and long legs. Thoroughbreds are classified among the "hot-blooded" breeds, which are animals bred for agility and speed and are generally considered spirited and bold.
Accepted Colors:
Thoroughbreds are most often bay, seal brown, chestnut, or gray. Less common colors would be black and cream dilutes like buckskin or palomino. White is very rare in the breed, but is a recognized color separate from gray. Patterned Thoroughbreds are also very rare, with sabino being the most common type of them, the other types are rabicano, dominant white, splash white and frame overo. Very few white and patterned horses will be accepted, most of those from the same family lines. Once the limit of foundation horses is reached for a specific pattern, the registry will only allow progeny of established lines to be registered.
